Adrian Davies, Pre Construction Leader, Laing O’Rourke
Steve joined Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners, when it was the Richard Rogers Partnership, in 1990 and was made an Associate Partner in 2011.
Steve worked on Terminal 5 Heathrow for almost ten years and played an intrinsic role in the successful competition for Barajas Airport, Madrid. This wealth of experience has enabled him to become well-versed in the specifics of large, multi-disciplinary teams and complex projects.
He has considerable experience in the co-ordination of multifaceted projects from concept design to construction detailing and is currently working on Melbourne Metro, a project comprising twin nine-kilometre tunnels and five new underground stations.
Prior to this, Steve led a large team on RSHP’s work at IQL, International Quarter London in Stratford, a new business quarter where RSHP has designed several major commercial buildings for lendlease. These are designed around the core values of promoting health and wellbeing in the workplace and RSHP has created a design framework that enables buildings of different sizes and configurations to be created using the same components.
Steve was also the project architect for the Cancer Centre at Guy’s, where he worked closely with the contractor-led team to win the design competition. He remained onboard throughout to deliver a new 20,000 m² oncology building that brings all services and treatment paths under one roof for Guys and St Thomas’s Hospital. Prior to that, Steve was project architect on site at the Millennium Dome, Greenwich; project architect for Riverside South; a major office development in Canary Wharf for an international bank, and also a 635,000 m² mixed-use scheme in central Seoul – Parc 1 Yeouido, which included a retail complex, two office towers and a 400-room hotel. This included one year running the project from the site office in Seoul.
