Joanna Pencakowski – Associate Partner

She joined RSHP in 2006, was made Associate in 2015 and Associate Partner in 2016.

Joanna has worked on commercial projects such as the Port Authority Bus Terminal and Tower, New York (for Vornado/PA NY & NJ), Canary Wharf Riverside South, London (for J.P. Morgan/Canary Wharf) and most extensively as a leading team member on the design and construction of The Leadenhall Building, in the City of London (for British Land and Laing O’Rourke). Working on the British Museum World Conservation and Exhibition Centre, she was responsible for the complex service coordination and liaison with the conservation and scientific research department. She also gained international experience in residential architecture: as key team member for Scandicci Nuovo Centro Civico in Florence, Italy; as co-project architect for the Sporting d’Hiver residential development in the centre of Monte Carlo, Monaco (for Société des Bains de Mer); and recently as project architect for concept design of a residential tower in Taipei, Taiwan.

She has significant experience in working within big multidisciplinary project teams, negotiating and coordinating with multiple stakeholders such as clients, users, consultants and diverse contractors. She combines hands-on experience of small and large-scale architecture, with construction law insight and an active role in RSHP’s financial and commercial teams.

Joanna regularly lectures at the UCL and King’s College London on the relationship between architecture and law and has acted as external examiner for the Certificate in Professional Practice and Management in Architecture (ARB/RIBA Part 3) at the Bartlett, UCL.
