Y:Cube Housing Wins at Edison Awards 2015

Y:Cube Housing has won a silver medal in the ‘social solutions’ category at the 2015 Edison Awards, which recognise innovation in new products, services and business leaders from around the world.
The ballot of nominees was judged by a panel of more than 3,000 leading business executives including past award winners, academics and leaders in the fields of product development, design, engineering, science and medicine.
Representatives from project partners YMCA London South West and RSHP picked up the gong in front of hundreds of innovation professionals at a black-tie ceremony and gala dinner in New York on 23 April 2015.
Y:Cube Housing is a modular ‘plug and play’ housing concept that uses volumetric technology and offsite manufacture to build high-quality accommodation faster and cheaper than traditional construction methods.
Factory-made units can be stacked easily on top and alongside each other to create different sized communities that can be adapted to specific sites and serve as affordable, semi-permanent accommodation for single people and couples in housing need.
