Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners reinterpretation of Prouvé House is on a shortlist of six for the Life Enhancer award. Wallpaper* said “Seeking to ensure a classic design lives on, gallerist Patrick Seguin commissioned RSHP to adapt a Jean Prouvé masterpiece – a 6x6m demountable house, conceived in 1944 as emergency housing – into an autonomous retreat. Two new cylindrical capsules host kitchen and bathroom, powered by two service trolleys that slide discreetly underneath the house – created with the help of engineers ChapmanBDSP and Arup. The redesign is sure to inspire exchanges about future demountable disaster relief housing.”
Judged by David Adjaye, Delfina Delettrez, Konstantin Grcic, George Lois, Eddie Redmayne and Patricia Urquiola the winner will be announced in January.
