Harvard Graduate School of Design launches the Richard Rogers Fellowship

Rogers’ Wimbledon House, gifted to Harvard in 2015, will host a residency programme designed to support architectural and urban research.
Today (18 October), Harvard Graduate School of Design (Harvard GSD) officially announced the Richard Rogers Fellowship. Open to accomplished professionals and academics working in any field related to the built environment, the Richard Rogers Fellowship will give six recipients each year the opportunity to take up residency in London to conduct research which addresses alternative and sustainable urban futures.
The residents will live in Rogers’ award winning Wimbledon House, originally designed for his parents, which he gifted to Harvard in 2015. The fellows will also receive travel expenses to London, a $10,000 USD cash prize, and will be able to access London’s institutions, libraries, practices, professionals and other resources.
The Richard Rogers Fellowship will be an open competition which encourages in-depth, original forms of investigation as a way to expand both practice and academic research. Eligible candidates must have a degree, with advanced degrees preferred. Candidates will be asked to submit a CV, portfolio of design work and or research work, and a research proposal. The deadline for submissions is 28 November 2016. Winners will be announced in early December 2016.
Harvard GSD will inaugurate the Wimbledon House as the residence for the Richard Rogers Fellowship and as a venue for lectures and events in 2017.
The Fellowship selection committee includes: Ivan Harbour, Richard Burdett, K Michael Hays, Hanif Kara, Mohsen Mostafavi, Farshid Moussavi, Patricia Roberts, and Richard Rogers himself.
