10×10 Drawing the River London raises £51,000 for Article 25

10×10 was attended by over 400 invited guests drawn from the culture, architecture, design and property communities of London, including: Antony Gormley, David Adjaye, Ken Shuttleworth, Chris Wilkinson, Eric Parry, Norman Ackroyd, Angela Brady, Ivan Harbour, Will Alsop, Eva Jiricna CBE, Chris Dyson and Wolfgang Buttress.

Trustee of Article 25 Jack Pringle gave a welcoming address at the RIBA before handing over to Robert Elms of the BBC, who encouraged the guests to dig deep for the wonderful cause. Sunand Prasad, Chair of the Trustees of Article 25 also spoke, giving guests an insight into the impact that 10×10 makes on the lives of communities in the developing world. RIBA president Jane Duncan delivered a final few words before the auction got underway, paying tribute to the fantastic relationship of the wider architectural community coming together for Article 25. Auctioneer Adrian Biddell, from Waterhouse & Dodd, played a star turn, ensuring that the live auction of 27 of the artworks was a night to remember.

For the second year in a row, Anthony Gormley’s work fetched the highest bid of £7,000. Chris Wilkinson of Wilkinson Eyre Architects watercolour took the second highest bid at £2,100. Karl Singporewala ‘Till death us do part’ came in third place raising £1,700. In total the live auction generated £27,000 with the additional £24,000 coming from the silent auction.
